It was time for another first birthday shenanigan!

We love first birthdays at Dreamy Moon Photography! Because that means it’s cake smash time for all the newly one year olds that come visit us at the studio…

The sweetest little boy, Oliver came in for his first birthday cake smash session. Malin his mum, got in touch with the studio to organise a green, blue and neutral session for Ollies first birthday.

With intentional planning we came up with the perfect set up! Several helium balloons floating in the back ground both blue and green. The little rattan chair for a milestone session. A very tall mini naked cake to be smashed! And lastly two outfit choices, green and neutral.

When the day of the shoot arrived, Ollie came through and did amazing! Having his sister join in on the milestone part of the session. We captured some timeless memories of them together! Then it was time for cake! Ollie wasn’t quite sure what to do with the cake, so we cut him off a slice to eat. Wrapping the session up with a splash bath!

Gold Coast QLD Baby Photographer | Milestone Session

9 Months Already!

Can you believe Arnhem-Sol is already 9 months old! This years has truely gone so fast and I can’t stress enough the importance of getting at least one professional photoshoot done with your little one. If you’re anything like me, you want to preserve this time as much as possible! And the best way to do it is by capturing the moment. To have something to hold and look back on is so magical.

We were inspired to do this milestone session after a cakesmash session that I did earlier. I had a bunch of balloons left over and thought it would be cute to do a dressed splash bath. So I tied the bouquet of balloons to the little tub and dressed Arnhem in her little white romper. Safe to say she loved it!

So much splashing and laughing! We captured the cutest smiles. Arnhem, now being 9 months old was throwing some bold moves in there! Pulling herself up and standing had me on my toes. Of course Luca was there to spot her.

Safety

Safety is our number one priority at Dreamy Moon Photography. In fact we just recently updated our first aid training with Tiny Hearts Education. Tiny Hearts Education is an amazing resource for both parents and professionals, bringing real life first aid situations and applying the skills needed to address them in their courses.

But back to the milestone shoot! We captured some very sweet photos and wrapped it up with some cuddles….

The Gold Coast is a location of gold when it comes to photography locations. We are so lucky to have so many beautiful spots to capture memories at. In this blog we are going to discuss all the tips on find the perfect location for your shoot. Miami QLD Newborn Photographer | Finding the Perfect Location for Your Shoot

We will also share some of our favourite spots to take our clients and photograph timeless outdoor photos.

Tips to finding the perfect location:

Scenery, find a location rich in scenery. Whether that be mountains, grassland, beach, forest or even the the urban suburbs.
Time of day is an important thing to consider with your location of choice. Early mornings will work with most locations however if you are shooting in the middle of the day you might need to consider somewhere with lots of shade coverage.
Have a look on Google earth. It’s a great way to find new locations.
Ask your local community groups. Someone is bound to know a perfect location.
Scout scout scout! The best way you can find a location is to go exploring.
Alternatively your photographer should know some amazing locations.

Here are some of our favourite locations hidden around the Gold Coast!

Coombahbah Lake lands. The perfect location that has almost everything you need. Grasslands, boardwalks, forests and so much more!
North Burleigh beach. A photographers favourite. This beach captures the most stunning sunset sky’s and makes a great location for maternity and family shoots.
Currumbin valley, is full of stunning scenery rich in colour and full of foliage. It makes the perfect mountain photoshoot!

Smoke cannons! These create incredible gender reveal photos. The smoke photograph so well and looks absolutely stunning! Here is a link to our favourites cannons to use: Click here
We also love a good confetti reveal. These also look amazing in photos. You could organise to have the confetti in a balloon or a popper.
The box unravel! This is such a cool unique way to do a gender reveal. Your box will show case both pink and blue coloured ribbon that you will pull until the final colour reveals the gender. The anticipation and excitement is next level!
Um fireworks! Go big or go home they say. This will create a show stopping reveal and pretty much speaks for itself!
The baby reveal closet! Either all pink or all blue clothes and accessories will be placed inside an armoire closet where the reveal of your baby will be revealed!

Baby Photos Gold Coast | Last Chance To Book Christmas Minis

This Weekend is the final weekend where we are photographing Christmas Mini Sessions! It will be your last chance to capture Christmas themed photos with Dreamy Moon Photography for 2022! It will be bittersweet to wrap up the year, but it is always so rewarding meeting a variety of new and returning families! Baby Photos Gold Coast | Last Chance To Book Christmas Minis

We will be running Saturday sessions at The Well in Upper Coomera during the Hide And Seek Markets 8-12pm. These are walk in sessions and do not require a booking as it is hosted through the children’s markets.

We will have a slight variation in our setup. Outfits and accessories will be available on the day for photographic use. In sized 0000 all the way up to size 4. So many sweet little Christmas rompers too! And a matching sibling outfit!

Afterpay and eftpos will also be available during the market sessions, for your convenience.

The Sunday on the 11th of December we will be hosting private mini sessions at our studio in Burleigh Heads. These will be the last sessions of the year and require a booking.

Artwork will also be available in addition to your mini collection. Our most popular Christmas mini product is the loose print keepsake box.

The day of the Christmas Mini Markets:

We had so much fun photographing everyone’s Christmas minis at Hide and Seek children’s markets. It was so lovely meeting all of the children and their families and of course making incredible memories to finish up 2022.

The day started quite early at 6:30 but gave the Dreamy Moon Team plenty of time to set up and make everything perfect to start taking pictures at 8:00.

We have a variety of families come through and get their Christmas pictures taken. Enjoying use of our Christmas client closet.

Our first clients were absolutely adorable! Little cousins all dressed up in their Christmas outfits. Once’s warmed up they were full of little giggles. We got the sweetest little family photos of them! All dressed up in their little cohesive outfits was big brother Cooper and his baby sister Milly. Capturing the biggest smiles!

We photographed the most sweetest little siblings. Dressed in the most beautiful maroon Christmas dress and the little crochet baby onesie from our client closet. Florence and her brother Ezy were making every swoon with their cute expressions!

Getting out and meeting the community is always such a pleasure and we can’t wait to do it again in December!

Cake smashes are so fun!

There is just something so magical about planing, decorating and creating first birthday magic.

Today’s blog is a little different. I thought it would be a different perspective to share with you some of the behind the scenes process of organising a cake smash.

Of course it starts with the booking process. Once all booked in we start the planning. We love involving our clients in the planing process and have a huge selection of props and outfits that you can choose from in our preparation guide. Alternatively you can always leave the creative process up to us, if it’s not really your thing or you love a surprise!

Next is the fun part

Our team will go out into the field and organise anything that needs external planning such as the cake, balloons, outfits or any particular decor.

Cake decorating is one of the things that we also do in house and love creating unique naked cakes for each set up. Some have drives florals others gold flakes or other amazing designs! And of course the set up, putting everything together and intentionally adding in little details to really create that magic!

Finally the cake smash itself. Capturing those first memories of tasting cake (mostly for the first time) is so precious! The giggles and laughter. The toes between the cake slices and the messy little hands!

Isn’t it so exciting when you book a photoshoot! There is so much creative freedom you get when you book in with Dreamy Moon Photography. From a huge variety of outfits to select from our client closet. To backdrops, accessories and of course props.

You get to completely tailor your photoshoot experience with the guidance and expertise of our team. So what to consider when you do get the chance to choose your props. Of course we will guide you along the process but here is a list of tips to help you also decide.

Choosing your props

Theme, are you going minimal, rustic, boho, lots of decor, different colours etc.
What type of session are you doing. Some props are more appropriate for newborns whilst others are more appropriate for older toddlers. Your photographer will give great suggestions!
How big is your little one, stream lining off the previous point… it’s important to discuss the size of your little one with your photographer as the will really narrow down the best prop fit.

Alternatively if choosing your favourite prop is a little overwhelming you can always leave the creative reigns up to your photographer. But it is also nice to have some in put too.

We are constantly updating our prop selection at Dreamy Moon Photography. When you book in you will be sent a guide where you can select your favourite props, outfits and accessories!
