Woman to Mother

Firstly we devote our time and energy into our pregnancies, but what about that postpartum period. The short 6 weeks after birth where our hormones are rampant. We are sleep deprived. Submerged in the unconditional love of a newborn bubble. Furthermore our bodies are experiencing massive adjustments. However it’s something that is often overlooked. Especially for first time mumma’s who are trying to find their sea legs. Consequently as a westernised society have lost touch with the women centred community care. Which allows a new mum to transition into motherhood. But this is the most important time for mother and baby to slow down and bond.

The First 40 Days

The first 40 Day – the essential art of nourishing the new mother by Heng Ou, Amely Greeven and Marisa Belger is an amazing resource that explains the importance of nurturing the postpartum experience. The book is filled with an abundance of recipes that help warm and heal the womb. Rebalance hormones and boost lactation. It gives helpful tips on slowing down and replenishing the new mother.

Postpartum Rituals

There are an abundant of traditional and modern day rituals that you can easily incorporate into your postpartum experience. To encourage healing and replenishment. Castor Oil Packs are an amazing and easy thing to do postpartum. Castor oil packs detoxify the womb area, increase blood flow, bring warmth and reduce pain. Simply soak a cloth into castor oil. Pop it on your womb area with a hot water bottle. Relax and recharge for ten minutes whilst it works its magic. Finally another amazing ritual. Rubbing black sesame seed oil onto your womb. Nonetheless this is so easy to do in the morning and at night to help promote warmth to your womb.

With just a little bit of preparation you can set up an amazing postpartum healing period. By incorporating, warmth, retreat, support, rest and ritual. You will leave the early days of postpartum completely rejuvenated.
