Tweed NSW Newborn Photography | Everly’s Cake Smash

The Planning…

When Everly’s mama got into contact with me and discussed that she wanted to do a shoot for Everly’s first birthday, I thought boho vintage vibes immediately. Little gingham outfits, bonnets and dried flowers. Of course in a neutral colour pallet. Think peaches and creams… We got to planning straight away. I sent Through Renee (Everly’s mama) a collage of the inspiration that I pulled together. I love doing this for clients. As it can give a visual representation of the creative flows for the session.

The session

Everly did amazing during her cake smash session. She was so happy and bubbly. Lots of laughter echoed throughout the photography studio. She had the biggest blue eyes and most gorgeous little smile. Firstly we started with milestone portraits. She was dancing, posing and clapping her little hands. Everly was so interactive and confident in front of the camera. She is a real natural. Followed by the cake smash Itself. The cake was a white naked cake, dairy free as Everly has a dairy intolerance. We love being an all inclusive studio at Dreamy Moon Photography. We want to ensure every baby has an opportunity to celebrate with a cake smash! After the cake smash itself, Everly wrapped up her session with a splash bath.

Newborn Photography Gold Coast QLD | You’ll miss these moments

Why does time go so fast when you have little ones? It’s like we blink our eyes and they have grown double in size! Their little hands and toes, the sweet little features on their face. The rolls and the squish. We go to pop them into an outfit and they can barely squeeze into it. And you wonder, when, how… Did you grow so fast. We hold them and look at them everyday and some days are long. But the years, oh the years are so short. In a matter of time they are big an independent and you wonder how did the days turn into memories. The bitter sweet moments, at the time you wished would hurry up. But now you want them back. You want to hold onto those memories and make them last forever…

…And you can, well kind of. Through the lens of photography, you can freeze time. Treasure those memories and turn them into precious keepsakes. The art of turning your memories into forever. Time goes so fast when you have young children, we are caught up in the hustle and bustle of surviving parenthood. The survival guide and constant feeling of ‘am I doing this right’, that it is easy to get distracted. The most precious thing we can have is professional images of our newborn babies and children. Something to look back on and reminisce. Something to hold, flick through and soak in the memories of when they were so little. Because they truely grow so fast.

Newborn Photography Gold Coast QLD – Shine Photo Award

The Shine Photo Awards 12th Edition 2022

Firstly, The Shine Photo Awards are an international maternity, newborn, child and family photography competition. Submission entries are judged by a series of professional photographers. Who are experts in their fields. The focus lies on the technical skills, creativity and outstanding image effort. From the submitting photographer. Giving back to charity is an important part of The Shine Awards. As not every child is as fortunate. They work along side multiple charities to pay it forward.

Secondly, it was an honour to receive the Bronze Award. During the 12th Edition of The Shine Awards. Dreamy Moon Photography submitted the newborn photo of Arnhem-Sol in the froggy position. Posed on an oatmeal backdrop and a floral halo. The Shine Awards published our image alongside other winning photographers. They also shared our image on their social media accounts. Such as Instagram and Facebook. Congratulations to the other winning photographers who submitted their work into the competition.

Lastly, the pose Froggy Position is a pose that is photographed as a composite. When two images are merged together a composite is created. To create the final image. Hands on the baby at all times is important when photographing this pose. To ensure the uttermost safety of the baby. Each year Dreamy Moon Photography updates their newborn safety skills.

South Gold Coast QLD Newborn Photographer | Teodora’s Cake Smash

Teodora was the sweetest little girl during her Cake Smash Session. Her dainty little toes and big blue eyes. During this session I wanted to make the main focus on Teodora and keep the decorations to a minimal. By only incorporating a few light and airy pieces such as the moon prop and clear balloons.

The Planning

Liz and I got in contact earlier during the month and discussed all the details of the session. I sent through a few of my inspirations and a clothing guide. We stock a ton of outfits from newborn to toddler in our studio. But it’s always great to be on the same page with our clients. I had picked out a white lace romper and a peach coloured bonnet for Teodora to wear durning her session. The outfit gave off a slight vintage feel. During our planning phase Liz and I spoke about what type of art work she would like from her session. We offer a large variety of art pieces, from wall art to albums. Liz was very keen on creating a family heirloom album.

Baby Photographer Gold Coast QLD Milestone

The Session

Teodora rocked her session, she was so good in front of the camera. When we played her favourite song from Bluey, she became so excited! She danced, rolled around a laughed so much during her session. Teodora has a gymnastic background and kept pointing her little toes and even once did the splits! Teodora’s big blue eyes twinkled so much, a gorgeous little girl with the sweetest personality. Once we were all finished with her portraits and cake smash we brought out the bubble bath tub. Teodora wasn’t the biggest fan, but we did manage to capture a few smiles.

Gold Coast QLD Newborn Photography | Sonny’s Cake Smash

There is nothing more enjoyable than watching a one year old smash a cake! It was Sonny’s birthday, so we had to organise a cake smash for him. The giggles and laughter that came from Sonny was contagious. His sweet smile and explorative nature of the cake allowed us to capture the most precious images.

The Planning

When Chanel (Sonny’s mama) got in contact with me, we immediately started the planning process for Sonny’s shoot. I knew that a creamy, neutral boho inspired shoot would be perfect for the little man. I sent Chanel through our clothing inspiration guide to give a visual idea of what look we were going for. We stock quite a few different outfits for our little ones in the studio, from newborn to toddler. It’s always so amazing when clients allow the photographer to take creative control. Now time for planning the cake! Naked cakes are always a favourite of mine, I really feel that they meet those rustic, boho vibes. We organised for the cake to be topped with donuts, dried flowers and edible gold leaf. Next adding in some pampas grass and a beaded garland to complete the set up.

The Session

Sonny did so well during his session! He was so playful and giggly. We started the session off with portraits in the little basket. Sonny loved the music we had playing in the background and kept clapping to it. He was so excited so we decided to add the cake in for him to play with. He loved the cake and kept wanting his mama and dada to hand feed it to him. Finally we ended the cakesmash session with a splash bath. Babies either love or hate the splash bath. Sonny had so much fun, in fact I think it was his favourite part about the entire session. He was sticking his tongue out, laughing and splashing.
