We love Cake Smashes – Gold Coast QLD Newborn Photographer | Miley’s Cake Smash

We love cake smashes at Dreamy Moon Photography! When Jana got into contact with me about her baby girl ‘Miley’s’ first birthday coming up. Of course we had to organise a cake smash photoshoot! With this photoshoot jana wanted to incorporate Miley’s special birthday dress. So of course we picked some props to compliment it. Think cream, pink and lace. With a few bouquets of florals and a prop we put together the perfect set up for the shoot!

Miley came through on Saturday to capture her first birthday Cake Smash Session. She was beautifully dressed in her little pink dress that her big brother (age 3) purchased for her when she was younger. Miley had the most beautiful curly brown hair and big brown eyes. She communicated so well through her actions.

The set up

We set up the studio with a whimsical and Lacey set up. A tiny bed draped in a lace layer and some beautiful dried flowers enhanced the overall look. First we captured some milestone photos with Miley in her special pink dress. Then we did an outfit change for a little bit of variation. We did a quick outfit change into a white lace romper so Miley’s special dress would get ruined.

Adding in a beautiful cream cake in, Miley enjoyed smashing and tasting all the different flavours. When given the cake. She was super expressive with her face and gave the cream sponge cake a decent tasting! Which was absolutely adorable. Photographing the most candid moments, we snuck in some giggles and smiles! After shooting some milestone photos and the cake tasting. It was time for the splash bath to conclude the session!

Willow’s dad, Josh reached out to me in regards to organising a newborn session for his brand new baby daughter. It’s so lovely when dad’s or other family members are so excited to celebrate and capture their new editions! Josh and I got straight into planning for his daughters newborn session. Josh and his partner expressed that they wanted peach and cream tones for baby Willows session. The perfect set up came to mind and we discussed all the props and accessories that we could incorporate into Willows session.

The Session

Nevertheless baby Willow and her family arrived at the studio, to a beautiful peach and cream inspired set up. We used the fine art backdrop from intuition backgrounds to help set the scene. Adding in some natural toned baskets and the cane pram was the perfect edition for baby Willow’s shoot. Willow was the most calm baby ever! She stayed asleep the entire session and loved being swaddled. We accessorised her with a few different floral and soft feathered head pieces. Weighing just over 6 pounds Willow was a little ‘doll’.

Furthermore Willow’s older siblings were totally smitten by her. Lastly at the end of her session we incorporated some sibling and parent shots. It is such a blessing to be able to capture a baby’s first moments. Above all it is even more of a blessing knowing that families will forever treasure moments like these! I love seeing families bond together when they experience their photography session. Watching the little interactions between older siblings and their new editions is just the best!
