Head on hands…

This pose captures the natural curliness of your newborn baby. It showcases how sleepy they are. Their ability to just be placed in any position and be content as a bug in a rug.

How the pose is safely done:

The head on hands pose consists of gently posing your baby’s head to lay on top of their arms. Crossing over their little legs and allowing them to be on their tummy. Your baby’s head will be facing out to the side towards the camera. So we can capture their precious little face. This pose can be done on a newborn posing bean. A prop, like the moon pillow above. Or in a basket, bed or drawer prop.

Creativity in the pose:

There are an abundance of creative ways you can incorporate into this pose. Such as draping a blanket over the baby, dressing them up in a little outfit or showcasing all their squish!

Newborn Photography Gold Coast QLD | You’ll miss these moments

Why does time go so fast when you have little ones? It’s like we blink our eyes and they have grown double in size! Their little hands and toes, the sweet little features on their face. The rolls and the squish. We go to pop them into an outfit and they can barely squeeze into it. And you wonder, when, how… Did you grow so fast. We hold them and look at them everyday and some days are long. But the years, oh the years are so short. In a matter of time they are big an independent and you wonder how did the days turn into memories. The bitter sweet moments, at the time you wished would hurry up. But now you want them back. You want to hold onto those memories and make them last forever…

…And you can, well kind of. Through the lens of photography, you can freeze time. Treasure those memories and turn them into precious keepsakes. The art of turning your memories into forever. Time goes so fast when you have young children, we are caught up in the hustle and bustle of surviving parenthood. The survival guide and constant feeling of ‘am I doing this right’, that it is easy to get distracted. The most precious thing we can have is professional images of our newborn babies and children. Best Newborn Photography on the Gold Coast QLD

This sweet boy was so adored during his session! His gentle personality shined through his studio newborn photography session. Mama and dada requested baby blue hues for their first son. Of course I had to run out and do a spotlight haul on some new fabrics for this session. They had some beautiful cream and blue tones, which I thought would go perfectly with this shoot!

The Planning

Keeping it natural and earthy, we incorporated some woven basket props and rattan into the set. Pairing the props with a natural beaded garland and some beige wool. To add texture, layers and depth to the photos. Baby boy fit perfectly in the mohair bonnet I recently ordered. He looked so precious in this setup.

The Session

When it was time to do bean bag poses, baby boy was so calm. When posed, both wrapped and unwrapped were his favourite. A content little one, he slept the entire time when being posed. His favourite position was the bottoms up pose. The baby blue fabric and wrap suited his complexion so well. We can forget about how precious those little newborn hands and toes are!

The newborn phase honestly goes in a blink of an eye. It is such a pleasure to be able to capture the sweet little first moments, for the parents to cherish forever. It is such a beautiful thing to witness our clients experience the Dreamy Moon Photography experience! We were blessed to be able to film some behind the scene snippets of this little man’s session.
