Our favourite time of the month!!!

Client product delivery day. It’s delivery day and the delivery driver has just dispatched a bunch of client artwork. It feels like Christmas on client delivery day and there is nothing better of a feeling than unboxing the products and seeing the reactions from the families who get to treasure these heirlooms.

Our YouTube channel is one of the many platforms where we love to show you all of the behind the scenes activities we get up to at the Dreamy Moon Photography studio. What do you wear?

You’re so excited, you have your session booked for your indoor or outdoor photography session. If you haven’t had photos taken in the past, this must be very new for you. Even slightly overwhelming. You not only have to organise yourself, but your partner, children and maybe family pet too! But don’t worry, Dreamy Moon Photography has you covered and has put together a full guide on what to wear to your next photography session. Family:

I’m starting off with the largest to organise and that is your family session clothing guide. The key here is to coordinate your colour pallet rather than being matchy, matchy. Pick a few tones that collaborate nicely and base your outfit around them. I will post a few example below of exactly what I’m talking about. Never underestimate the power of textures! Textures make for great visual appeal in your photos and when added in subtly, it can make the world of a difference.

What to avoid!

We want your photos to be timeless and of course this is just our suggestion that you can take with a grain of salt….But this is a few things we tell our clients to avoid wearing.

No logos, logos are distracting and can outdated become outdated quite quickly.

Avoid harsh patterns, this can sometimes be unflattering.

Now this is just our preference but avoid bold, bright colours.

Okay now that we’ve gotten that out of the way let’s move onto the babies!

You probably know by now that our main niche of photography are babies. Which is why we have a full client wardrobe to have you covered. But the same rules as above pretty much apply to our littlest humans too.

I grew up in a household that did not priorities memories…

Growing up in a disadvantaged household with 8 children, you get lost in the crowd. As a family of 10 we only have one image of all of us together. After having my first baby, who is now five years old. There was a part of me that felt empty. Whilst I was pregnant and becoming excited to bring my first born baby into the world. So than, I searched for images of myself and my family. To see the resemblance of what my new baby would look like in comparison to my own baby photos, meant so much to me. It was than and there that I realised I have near to no images of myself as a baby. It still stings knowing that I will never know what baby Tiana looked like. I will never be able to do side by side comparisons of mum, dad and baby.

I had subconsciously made and oath to myself

To document, capture and freeze moments in time of my family and children. I had actually started a YouTube channel as well as learning the basics of photography to support this dream. Now if you know me personally, you know that I am a dreamer. I love that even when you put your mind to something you can achieve it. That was the catalyst to how Dreamy Moon Photography began. Firstly I became obsessed with learning the ins and outs of becoming a photography. It ignited something within me, something that felt so empty before. When you grow up with childhood trauma the biggest thing you do for yourself is to nurture your inner child. That is what photography does for me…

Fast forward five years and photography still means the world to me. I feel so honoured and fulfilled being apart of families earliest moments. Meeting new people and creating connections are just the tip of the iceberg to why this job is so fulfilling and meaningful. The best part about photography is creating tangible heirloom art for families to cherish and pass down for years to come.

The basket…

Your baby is all snuggled up in a soft wrap. They look so little! Your baby is than placed in a basket prop and photographed. Oh so cute! They look like a little bean. The focus lies on their tiny little facial features. Their nose and sweet baby ears… Tiny sleepy eyes lay shut, as they comfortably snooze away. The basket pose is terrific at showcasing your baby. It can be photographed in many different ways and styled. There are the options to use both round baskets and rectangular baskets. They can be layered with fabrics, beads or different textures. Or can be a complete minimal look. We love using different coloured wraps to change up a look. Matching them with a baby bonnet or baby flower crown. The creative decor is endless and can be personalised to your taste.

Safety

Safety is our number one priority and we are always ensuring that we are following safe protocols when it comes to your precious newborn. We specifically design our prop set up with safety in mind. That means either using a weighted object to secure the basket. Or simply having a hands on spotter at all times.
