Burleigh Heads QLD Newborn Photography | Postpartum Anxiety

Those postpartum anxiety feels creep up out of nowhere!

One minute you’re in a total baby bliss bubble the next you’re questioning everything. I wanted to touch base on my own personal experience with postpartum anxiety this time around after having my baby this year, February 2022. I can’t even remember when it became a thing but it just became something that I started to notice would creep up often.

Trigger warning. For people who may feel upset by the talk of post natal anxiety, fears and depression.

In 2016

In 2016 prior to having my first son I was in a major car accident. That kind of kick started a lot of my traumas surrounding death and loss of loved ones. Throw a baby into a mix and that was years of therapy that I committed too. I truely thought I was past those traumas until I had my second baby. The postpartum phase amplifies a lot of suppressed issues.

I started having panic attacks in the middle of the night. Worried that my baby would stop breathing even when she was perfectly fine and safe. I would fear that if I let people mind her, she might get hurt. (Absolutely not the case at all though). Sometimes I would get worried that in the car she would stop breathing and I wouldn’t know because I was driving.

Driving became very limited with our baby because she absolutely hates the car and I could not bear to leave the house due to my debilitating anxiety.

This is just the tip of the iceberg to my experience with postpartum anxiety. I’m so blessed to have the most supportive fiancé. An incredible circle of family, friends and community.

To be on the other side…

I’m so glad to be on the other side of this. Thank to some handy tips that I fell back on. Such as a strong routine, an ear to talk to and really slowing down. These are somethings that worked for me and may be different for everyone.

Tweed Nsw Cake Smash Client Reveal Day | Courtney

There is nothing we love more than seeing the reaction of our clients face when they see their precious babies printed and crafted into heirloom artwork!

It was client reveal day and Courtney came into the studio to collect her beautiful folio box. We did a full reveal video on the folio box and all the detail from pearlescent paper to milk linen colouring.

But back to the reveal of course. Courtney absolutely loved seeing the folio box in person for the first time. She was completely smitten by how precious her baby looked! She ever couldn’t believe how much his changed in just a few weeks.

Now of course we love going the extra mile for our clients and always love to sprinkle in a little surprise here and there. Later on during the week I had organised to drop off some goodies at Courtney’s work. We love supporting our local cheesecake shop and picked up a 6 pack of assorted cupcakes. Yay! Another client reveal!

Recently we had the opportunity to showcase one of our favourite studio albums. Teodora’s cakesmash album is a stunning all white minimalistic album that captured the most precious smiles!

Liz and her husband are local gymnastics coaches, based in Ashmore. It really shows through Teodora’s little personality too. She was so confident and easy going.

When it was time for Liz to pick up her album she was absolutely in love with the results. We are so blessed to work with the most amazing clients and love watching them see their artwork for the first time!

Bree originally found Dreamy Moon Photography through our Santa mini promotion we ran last year. She absolutely lived our service and booked us in to shoot her wedding. However a postponement was made and we decided to squeeze in an outdoor family shoot in the mean time!

Over the weekend we had an outdoor session scheduled in for a returning client of ours. Bree and her family are just adorable and really wanted to do a nature based outdoors session. I knew the perfect spot! Somewhere with lots of trees, greenery and a kangaroo or two. Think very scenic vibes, sage and earth tones!

Now of course you probably all know us as studio photographers, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do an outdoor shoot on request. We love a good sunrise on the beach or sunset on the mountains.

On the day Bree and her family were beautifully coordinated with their outfits. The boys wore jeans and white shirts, her youngest in a camel toned knitted sweater and of course Bree in a beautiful white flow dress! We made our way through various area of scenery from open fields to canopies of trees and finishing up on the board walk. A perfect area for toddlers to explore and truely be candid!

Bree and her family had requested a photo of the boys so she could send it to their nanny. We captured the perfect photo of them looking over the board walk and into the shrubs!

We have been having lots of fun over on Instagram about guessing what was happening with Dreamy Moon Photography!

It’s the little memories, Burleigh Heads QLD Newborn Photography | Milestones

Okay, this is going way too fast! And I know I write about this all the time in the blogs. But I really can’t stress how you blink and time flies in that first year of having a baby! It’s like the days are long but the years are short. Some days feel like ground hog day but you look back at the picture and your baby has grown astronomically. What once was a little bundle of curliness is now the biggest squish ever!

So Arnhem-Sol is 4 months old and to celebrate we photographer her monthly milestone photos. Now let’s be real she did not want her pictures taken. Even when encouraged by her big brother. Who absolutely is smitten by her and always wants photos taken with her. So of course we had to get some of Theo too.

I managed to distract her with a toy and placed her in our favourite rattan prop. Which is great for newborns and sitters. Dressing her in a white Two Darlings onesie and a peach coloured lace bonnet. She looked like a little doll. We were able to get a few candid images of the two, which is always so precious.

Milestone photos are the most sweetest as it showcases how much they change over 12 months.

Gold Coast QLD Newborn Photography | Teodora’s Cake Smash Album – This is the most stunning album ever!

Teodora is the most photogenic baby we have photographed in the studio. Full of giggles and laughter. Her bubbly personality was contagious and shined throughout her images.

We are so pleased her parents selected an album to showcase her beautiful personality. Click here to get a sneak peak into the viewing appointment video. Their reactions are absolutely humbling!

The Album

Well Teodora’s album finally arrived in the studio and it is everything we imagined. Light airy, bright and white. Big blue eyes and smiles full of life.

The album holds 30 images over numerous spreads. A flatlay album was of choice. This album consistently showcases the storyline of Teodora’s cake smash session. Starting off with her milestone images. Dressed in an all white romper, a bonnet and use of the moon prop. Followed by the cake smash itself. And lastly the splash bath.

We filmed an album sneak peak over on our Dreamy Moon Photography YouTube channel.

Planning

We were so excited to photograph Elody’s newborn session. Elody’s parents are good friends of ours. They have been patiently waiting for their beautiful bundle of joy to arrive after a few years of trying to conceive. So newborn photos were an absolute must!

When planning for the session, there were a few special heirloom pieces to incorporate. Elody had this beautiful hand knitted baby bonnet that was her mamas when she was a baby. We also incorporated Elody’s special arrival swaddle. A beautiful pink and purple floral swaddle, that was perfect for wrapping around her.

As fas as the set ups go, I was thinking a lot of pinks and creams. I actually purchased a few new props for this session and thought it would be fun to incorporate them. One of our favourite local vendors princess and the pea does amazing props and accessories.

The Session – Tweed Nsw Newborn Photography | Elody’s Newborn Session

Elody arrived in the studio for her photoshoot. She was so beautiful and petite. I actually had to bump a few props up because she was tiny. She did really well in her session. Towards the end was super sleepy. So relaxed to allow me to pose her.

We had specifically made a prop for her session, which was a rustic baby swing that was safely used during one of her lying down poses. Which ended up being the sweetest image. During Elody’s session we got to use a few new props such as the round rattan basket and the mohair beige/brown little newborn outfit.
